Description

The perfect cozy side dish to serve with almost any meal, this Easy Homemade Garlic Bread recipe is a back pocket recipe you can have ready on your table in about 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon minced roasted or fresh garlic (see notes)
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of kosher salt (you’ll need a bit more if you are not using parm cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely minced
  • 4 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 (24 ounce) large Italian loaf or French loaf

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350ºF and place a rack in the middle of the oven and one underneath the broiler.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together garlic, butter, garlic powder, and parsley, and salt until fully combined.
  3. Slice the bread in half.
  4. Liberally spread the garlic butter on top of the loaves in an even layer. Depending on the bread you use, you may not use all the garlic butter.
  5. Place the garlic bread on a rimmed baking sheet and bake on the middle rack for 10 minutes. Switch the heat setting to the broiler, and broiler the garlic bread for 2-3 minutes, or until the tops are bubbling all over.
  6. Let cool until safe to handle. Slice into pieces.
  7. Serve warm.

Notes

You can either buy roasted garlic in the deli section of the grocery store or you can make it yourself. If you don’t have/don’t want to use roasted garlic, fresh garlic is fine too!

Want to make this really easy to put together? Skip the steps of mincing anything and add all ingredients to a mini food chopper or food processor and process it all together.

The garlic butter is roughly enough for a large Italian loaf. If you only need half of a loaf, you can freeze the other half unbaked with the butter. Or you can save the butter for another use. See the post above for tips on using garlic butter in other recipes.
